Jasmine Orozco is a filmmaker and photographer born and raised in Mykonos, Greece.
She comes from a Greek, Mexican and Danish background. She was raised in a family of
painters, musicians and creatives. Due to her diverse cultural background and upbringing,
she’s always been fascinated by the arts. As a child in the early 2000s, her father worked
as a projectionist in the island’s outdoor cinema. He let her cut the roll of film where theintermission would play. It was love at first sight.
She has spent some time living between the U.K. and Denmark. She studied Film
Production at Cambridge School of Art, and worked at her uncle’s art gallery “Christiania
Art Gallery” in Copenhagen in the summers.
Living with her painter uncle, Marios, in an anarchist commune half the year, she was able to experience the community values andconnect with the local characters. The idea of creating a documentary about their vibrant, unique lives was starting to brew. She went on to direct “A Day in Christiania”, which will be screened in MEETCHA! festival in Italy in June 2024.
After experiencing life in Northern Europe, she felt it was time to return to the
Mediterranean lifestyle. She started her own company, Orozco Creative Studios, and now
takes on different film and advertising projects.
She has worked on cultural documentaries, independent music videos as well as projects for international DJs, artgalleries and microbreweries.
She is now exhibiting a solo audiovisual exhibition,”Nostalgia” in the Municipal Art Gallery of Mykonos until June 20th. She spends her time between the vibrant capital of Athens and Mykonos island, and travels any chance she can get.
